Medical Care

If you become ill or injured while in Ireland, it is important that you have the correct cover for medical expenses and also that you are aware whome you should contact.

The Health Services Executive - www.hse.ie is a useful website.

This organisation runs all health and social services in Ireland.

Medical Care

It is a prerequisite of the Department of Justice in ireland  that all students wishing to secure a student visa are in receipt pf private medical insurance. Eden College can arrange this for you. Please see 'Health Insurance' under the Services Section.

Non-EU/non-EEA students' eligibility for public health services depends on their country of origin, the duration of their stay in Ireland and financial situation. Where hospitalisation is needed, non-EU/non-EEA students are entitled to public patient services on the same basis as an EU/EEA national provided that they are undertaking a full-time course of at least one year's duration.

Students coming from an EU member state should bring a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from their home country before coming to Ireland. Please see http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=509&langId=en and www.ehic.ie and click on the link 'Visitors to Ireland' for more information. This card will facilitate access to health care, which will be provided in accordance with the legislation of Ireland.

If you need a doctor while in Ireland - please see the following link for a list of GP's and Medical Centres in your area (along with contact details): http://www.hse.ie/eng/Find_a_Service

  • I find the staff very helpful and the flexible times of the classes are an excellent idea. Our teacher makes our classes very interesting and goes to a lot of trouble to explain the contents of the course.
