General English Course
Introduction
The course provides students the opportunity to improve and develop all areas of their English language skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
The core lessons are aimed at presenting new vocabulary and language structures and then providing students the opportunity to practise and develop this language. This course is perfect for students wishing to develop 'natural' English as well as increasing their knowledge of the English grammar system
Course Aims
- Consolidate and expand key grammar knowledge
- Apply "classroom" language to real-world situations
- Develop vocabulary for formal and informal situations
- Increase knowledge of Irish life and culture
- Increase interaction with media in English (newspapers, radio and internet)
Course Content
Reading: developing skills for reading various texts and expanding vocabulary
Writing: improving writing skills for various tasks and situations (academic, personal)
Speaking: developing fluency and accuracy in conversational English; improving pronunciation at a word and sentence level
Listening: following and understanding conversations, announcements and TV shows in English
Grammar: reviewing and developing knowledge of the English grammar system and consolidating knowledge to practice and usage
Media: interacting with newspapers, books, online media and social media through English
